WHAT IS SVU ACADEMY SOCCER?
Shenandoah Valley United has designed and developed a pathway for players from U9-U10 to progressively take their game to the next level, simply called The Academy. Our goal is to ignite interest in the players that enjoy the game and to take serious players to the college level and beyond. The Academy teaches the principles of soccer through a well-structured curriculum ensuring technical excellence with an added focus on early team tactics through increasingly pressurized situations and enjoyable small-sided games. Academy provides a positive and fun soccer experience and works to inspire and prepare young players to participate on the SVU Travel Teams.

TEAM SELECTION
Team Selection: Tryouts
Teams are formed by a tryout process that takes place in May.  The selection target of teams is age pure (meaning a player plays with a team of players in his or her age group). Teams may hold additional tryouts between the Fall season and Spring Season for additional players at the discretion of the Executive Director/Director of Coaching (DOC). In certain cases, an exceptional player may move up an age group.  In these cases, a player typically must be among the top 3 players on the older age group, not simply the best player in his or her own age group.  All players playing up an age group are recommended to do so by the DOC and with the approval of a supervising Board member.
