COE 1 Parent Testimonial

"My son has been part of the Center of Excellence for 3 years, during that time we have seen growth in his technical ability and his tactical decisions.  I like the fact that Center of Excellence is not focused on winning but rather teaching the players the skills to develop into successful soccer players for the future."

Mike Van Horn, Head Coach, Bridgewater College Women's Soccer

COE 1 Programming - u7u8

  • Technical Training: Sessions focus on developing technical foundation, and instilling a love for the game in a player-centered environment. Small sided activities will be played with players of similar ability to ensure each player succeeds at their own pace and development.
  •  Speed, Agility and Quickness Training: A foundation training program for any player or individual designed specifically for the improvement in athletic technique, form, and performance. Each player will learn and practice proper running form, body posture as well as athletic techniques that apply to all sports and playing situations. Throughout the duration of the program, each player will apply the correct techniques through consistent dynamic warm-ups and training activities. The training activities will translate into athletic improvements in core body movements, quicker feet, and game speed reactions.
  •  Goalkeeping Training: Goalkeeper-specific training once/week during the season. Age/ability-based grouping. Team training the goalkeeper within team practices. Goalkeeper-specific evaluations with team coach and goalkeeper director input.

LTPD Pathway

Long-Term Player Development requires the total commitment of the club, the players and the parents to embrace the Technical Structure that will develop in the players the skill set required to thrive within the club soccer environment and beyond.  The technical structure provides the plan for development of players u4-u18, as well as a range of services to assist players who aspire to soccer experiences beyond SVU.

Philosophy of Play

Over-arching the development structure is the Philosophy of Play, providing a tool for teaching the game, for evaluating player strengths and areas needing improvement, and for painting the picture of how the game should be played.
