6 SVU teams finished the spring as VCSL Division Champions!
Congratulations to the 6 SVU teams who finished the Spring Season as VCSL Division Champions, joining 4 teams who finished as Fall Division Champions!

The 2011 Boys Navy - Win Presidents Cup Mid Atlantic Regional Championship, Advance to Nationals in Kansas, July 7
The 2011 Boys Navy made it back to the Regional Finals again this year this time coming away with the Championship and with it, a spot in the Presidents Cup National Tournament in Wichita KS. which runs July 7-12.
The 2011s went undefeated on the week, going 3-0 in group play before winning the Final on Sunday. 1-0. The boys outscored their opponents, some of the best teams from NC, Tenn and West Va, 12-5.

The SVU Pathway
SVU has a systematic way to develop players. An advantage is that each player continues to build on similar information and priorities from year to year, regardless of age and the coach. We ensure there are no gaps in the development of players.
SVU focuses on three main points:

- PLAYER-CENTERED: Tailor coaching to individual needs, encouraging creativity, decision-making, and love for the game. Meet the player where they are in their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Understanding that players develop at different rates
- LONG-TERM FOCUS: Success is measured by players reaching their potential, not just immediate match results. Process over results

US Soccer - Changes Age Group Settings starting Summer 2026
Starting in Fall 2026, U.S. Soccer is allowing youth leagues to move away from the traditional calendar birth year (Jan. 1–Dec. 31) and instead use a school-year-based system (Aug. 1–July 31). https://www.ussoccer.com/ecosystem-review/player-registration In short: U.S. Soccer made this change to better match soccer with school-age groupings, reduce player disruption, and create a more positive, consistent experience for youth players.
