u7 – u8 “Futures”

    2024 NEW CHALLENGE FORMAT:

    u7-u8 “Futures” Challenge: One (1) training night per week – *supplemental to our recreation program

    *We strongly encourage our u7-u8 challenge participants to register for our u7-u8 recreation program. This will give players an opportunity to play consistent matches and throughout the season in preparation for u9-10 challenge.  

    Who is the Challenge Program for?: If your child is searching for professionally led coaching in an organized and competitive environment, excels in their current program, or is interested in playing travel soccer in the future; Challenge program is perfect for them.

    Is there any Tryouts?:
    u7-u8 “Futures” : No. With no tryouts, parents/players are free to determine whether Challenge is right for them based on player athleticism, soccer experience, and potential interest in further soccer development.

    What Challenge Match Days look like?
    u7-u8 “Futures” : u7-u8 players are encouraged to play in our recreation program for additional training session and match play. 

    Challenge Matches Format:
    u7-u8 “Futures” Challenge: format is 4v4

    IMPORTANT DATES:

    u7-u8 “Futures”  (Boys and Girls):
    * One (1) x 75 mins training sessions per week – Tuesday 5:15pm – 6:30pm @ Horizons Edge.

    * Training Begins – Tuesday 2nd April, 2024 (8 training Sessions)

    * Training Dates – 4/2, 4/9, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30, 5/7, 5/14, 5/21 (make up date 5/28)

    PRICES:
    $75 for all U7-U8

  • Equipment & Uniforms

    WHAT YOUR CHILD WILL NEED:

    • Shin Guards
    • Soccer Ball (appropriate size)
    • Water Bottle
    • Cleats

    BALL SIZES
    U7-U8: Size 3 (5v5)
    U9-U10: Size 4 (7v7)

  • Financial Aid

    The purpose of the SVU Financial Aid program is to provide financial support for families with the greatest need so that they may participate in SVU programs without financial hardship. Financial aid is available in the fall and spring for qualifying families in the Recreation, Challenge and Travel programs based on demonstrated need and SVU’s ability to fund the assistance.

    FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION AND APPROVAL

    All families requesting financial aid must complete a Financial Aid Form. All financial aid requests will be reviewed by staff and will be kept confidential. Applicants for financial aid MUST APPLY EACH TAX YEAR (April 15-April 15), with complete and current Information. The level of aid for which an applicant qualifies can be requested for programs throughout the year.  However, each financial aid request must be approved for each program.  Each financial aid request is subject to available funds. Any financial aid awards given will apply only to the current program registration.

    Completed Financial Aid Forms may be emailed to the SVU Support Team [email protected], mailed or dropped off at the SVU Office (SVU Soccer:  735 East Market Street, Unit C Harrisonburg, VA 22801)

    FINANCIAL AID COVERAGE

    Financial aid is applied to registration fees only. It does not apply to uniform or other equipment expenses or any additional tournament fees or expenses.

    The amount of financial aid provided may vary by family. The amount is determined based on participation in public assistance programs (Medicaid, Free/Reduced Lunch Program, etc.), or by documenting income within established limits, as well as the total amount of aid offered to all other participants during the season.

    The aid approved on that form will only apply to the current program you applied for. Any aid requested for additional programs (camps, clinics, additional training, etc.) will need to be submitted in writing. Submitting a new application is not necessary within the same tax year.  Not all programs are eligible for financial aid.
